FOSTERING HELPS TO SAVE LIVES
Fostering is of a huge benefit to:

1. The animal fostered

Fostering gives an animal a chance at a life off of the streets, where they will most certainly be subjected to disease, starvation, injury, cruelty, and death.
It allows them to experience love, affection and security.
It gives them access to regular meals.
It allows them to receive veterinary care.
It keeps them away from the stress of living at an overcrowded, overwhelmed animal shelter.
It gives them a chance to receive one-on-one care that cannot be otherwise provided at a shelter: especially those with special medical needs, young ones requiring nursing.
It increases their chances of adoption. How?
Fostering helps to build their trust towards humans and to become confident and comfortable living in a normal home environment.
They get the opportunity to socialise with people and other animals.
They can also receive basic training, depending on the foster family.

2. The Animal Shelter

At some shelters, animals are euthanized after a defined stay. Animals Alive is a no-kill shelter, meaning that the number of animals we care for at any one time steadily climbs as we continuously take in animals but adoptions to responsible homes are few and far between.
This means that we are less able to take in cases and rescue as many animals as we would like.
An animal that finds a foster home may help to reduce the pressure on an animal welfare organisation like Animals Alive to overcrowd their facilities.

3. You, the Fosterer

Fostering can be a very rewarding and educational experience.
It can be so fulfilling to know that you played an important role in helping to rescue an animal in need and provide them with love, safety and their basic needs.
Fostering may be temporary, meaning if your foster pet finds their forever home, you have helped them to transition to their new life.

Or, you may find your forever pet in fostering and become a foster fail!
